Usage tips

Install/change the blade

Unscrew the handle (counterclockwise), place the blade between the two parts of the head, then screw it back on. The blade is then naturally curved: this is what makes the shave smoother than with most razors.

Shaving (if you're a beginner)

Ideally, shave at the end of your shower, on softened skin and hair. Apply shaving soap, cream, or oil. Shave in short strokes, maintaining an angle of approximately 30° . Do not press down : let the weight of the razor do the work.

After shaving

Apply the oil or cream of your choice. Rinse the razor, remove any residue (soap/hair), then dry. To prevent the blade from oxidizing, be sure to rinse it thoroughly and avoid leaving it damp inside for too long.

Maintenance tips

Rinse and dry the razor after each use. A safety razor can last a very long time if well cared for, but it remains susceptible to impacts and drops.

Our razors are manufactured in China in a small, family-run workshop (18 people) that we have audited. The workshop is also BSCI certified (a recognized standard for assessing working conditions).

We recommend replacing your blade every 5 to 10 shaves. This can vary from person to person depending on several factors (hair thickness, area shaved, skin sensitivity, etc.). A good rule of thumb is to change it when you find the shave is less close than the first time, or if you start experiencing irritation caused by a dull blade.

Its base of coconut oil, sweet almond oil, and castor oil creates a rich and creamy lather. It is enriched with red clay, known for its purifying and softening properties. Its fragrance is fresh thanks to rosemary essential oil (with its invigorating properties) and has a floral note with a hint of geranium.

This soap is cold-processed to preserve all the benefits of the ingredients. A 10% superfat is added to make it a true skincare product and help keep your skin moisturized and soft after shaving.

USAGE INSTRUCTIONS

1. Wet the badger brush by rinsing it under lukewarm water.
2. Squeeze it gently to remove excess water
3. Rub the shaving brush in circular motions over your shaving soap (available here ) in your palm or in a bowl to create a nice lather
4. Apply the mousse to your skin
5. Rinse the shaving brush after each use, then let it dry.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

• Check the water temperature. If the temperature is too high for your skin, it means it's also too high for the badger hair brush.
• Do not pull on the bristles. When you wish to remove excess water, squeeze all the bristles without pulling on them.
• Some hairs may fall out during the first use, but this will stabilize.
• Be gentle, only press with the tip of my hair on the soap or your skin.
• After use, rinse your shaving brush and remove excess water. Let it dry on a clean towel before storing it.
• Soap and other minerals will eventually build up on your shaving brush. Soak it in a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water for about a minute to remove most of these deposits.

Why we opted for synthetic fibers:

We've been asked many times if we would offer a shaving brush, so we started looking into it. The bristles can only be of two origins: animal or synthetic. Unfortunately, no plant-based bristles can create the lather a shaving brush is supposed to produce. Bareaya is a company that fights against plastic waste. But we are also a company that supports ethical products , both from a human and animal perspective . All our products are vegan. We faced a dilemma. And, knowing that a shaving brush is something you can keep and that doesn't need to be replaced regularly, we ultimately opted for synthetic fibers.
